I think the people of Costa Mesa have to find the perfect site for a
skateboard park in Costa Mesa.
TeWinkle Park and Fairview Park have facilities and adequate space to
accommodate the skate park.
It would add another element to either one of these great city parks.
Fairview Park has few close neighbors. TeWinkle Park neighbors tolerate
Bark Park and should be able to handle a skate park.
I would personally opt for a skate park over a dog park in my
neighborhood. The window of time has closed for my boys to enjoy a local
skate park in their own community.
Although they may decide to drive to the skate park, it would have
been nice to have a local facility when they were younger.
I spent many evenings and weekends driving to Huntington Beach and
Encinitas so the kids could skate at skate parks. The City Council needs
to make this issue a priority and push this skate park through as quick
as possible. It is long overdue!

Charle Street site wasn’t the best for kids
I believe that Gary Monahan has the answer at one of these parks.
TeWinkle looks to be very good. I have a 6-year-old boy who’ll be
skating.
I really commend the council members that have voted against the
Charle Street location. I think it is terrible. There is no parking for
parents with younger kids to park their cars.
It’s not a good drop-off place. I think the neighborhood was, when I
drove by, trashy.
I wouldn’t feel secure with my child there. I think there are two
council members, Libby Cowan and Linda Dixon, who I don’t think are
thinking of the best interest of our children. I think parents should
look at those two as being maybe anti-child and direct them either out of
the council or to start thinking about our children who are in
alternative sports.
