Students in John Carrido’s after-school program at Newport Elementary
School enjoy a break from the rainy weather as they exercise on the
playground.
They can expect more dry weather today as Wednesday’s storm moves
east, leaving a few scattered showers in the morning that may bring the
daylong rainfall to about half an inch, according to the National Weather
Service. Highs are expected to be in the low 60s, with a chilly overnight
low in the 40s.
The drying-out period probably will end Friday as another storm moves
in, dropping anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rain before it passes through
Newport-Mesa by Saturday. It will leave cooler weather, with highs
reaching only into the 50s.
Sunday is expected to be another dry day, with temperatures in the
60s. Once again, the break won’t be long as Monday is expected to bring
more wet weather. But it should be the last of rain for a while, weather
service officials promise.
