Girls soccer: Tars claim 2-0 verdict

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High girls soccer team capped an
unbeaten first round of Sea View League play by defeating visiting Aliso
Niguel, 2-0, Tuesday.
Senior Satya Twena finished a cross from sophomore Tricia Orth to put
the Sailors (8-4-4, 2-0-2 in league) on top in the 16th minute.
Then, with the defense anchored by junior goalie KiIssa Tyler (eight
saves) constructing its eighth shutout of the season, senior Laura Kauth
added an unassisted insurance tally in the 57th minute.
Aliso Niguel, ranked No. 6 in Orange County, fell to 15-3-1, 2-2-0 in league.
The victory gives Newport six points in the standings, one behind
first-place Woodbridge, ranked No. 2 in the county.
The win also extended the Tars’ unbeaten streak to four games.
