The North Huntington Beach Soccer Club ended Coast Soccer League play
last weekend with four of its girls teams -- Under 11 Gold, Under 14 Gold, Under 15 Silver Elite and Magic Under 19 Premier -- winning league
championships.
The Under 11 Gold team finished with a 9-2-3 record, and its 14
opponents scored a total of just nine goals.
The team’s strong showing was attributed to the play of goaltender
Shannon Simpson and defenders Taylor Campbell, Kyla Fenning, Monica
Garcia and Mackenzie Scott.
Handling the mid-fielding chores were Kerry Leslie, Natalie Pierson,
Erica Seidman, Caitlin Wallace and Cory Yoshida.
The offensive line was powered by Charney Burk, Beth Ward and Natalie
Zandt.
The team is coached by Abner Rogers, Robyn Kobayashi and Gui Gui
Ferreira.
Ferreira also coached the Under 14 squad, which finished the season
12-2, allowing just eight goals. The team won the Surf Cup tournament
championship over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Under 15 Silver Elite team, under the direction of Dave King,
posted a 10-0-4 record.
The Magic Under 19 Premier team, coached by Abner Rogers, went 10-1
during the season, which was capped with a 3-0 victory over the Cal North
team in the Premiership title match.
