Ocean View High School added Kevin Fairman to its administrative team

as the vice principal of activities responsible for school activities,

athletic programs and Associated Student Body functions . . . Michael

Coeper, son of Gil and Louann Coeper of Huntington Beach, completed

Ranger School in Ft. Benning, Ga. on Sept. 15, graduating as an officer

honor graduate. It is the highest medal issued to soldiers during

peacetime. He also received the soldier’s medal . . . President Clinton

nominated Bonnie Prouty Castrey of Huntington Beach to be the chairwoman

of the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Castrey chairs the Federal

Service Impasses Panel, a private arbitrator and mediator committee that

deals with various employment, labor-management, community-public policy,

and business disputes. She also serves on the national board of directors

of the Industrial Relations Research Assn . . . A group of local students

were selected for the dean’s honors list at UC Santa Barbara. Students

from Fountain Valley are Davia Hayward and Heidi Kellenberger, and those

from Huntington Beach are Jill Lockwood, Cristina Serrano, Neel Shah,

Rhett Buckley, Nicole Gale, Cory Harelson, Kristen Maag, Carlos Martinez,

Amanda Savercool, Samuel Semingson and Sherrilynn Thiess . . . Creighton

University named Summer Smith of Huntington Beach to the dean’s honor

roll for academic achievement during the second semester of the 2000

school year . . . Maureen Dawson of Huntington Beach received her

bachelor’s degree from Keene State College in New Hampshire . . . Marine

Corps Pvt. Adryce J. Short completed basic training at the Marine Corps

Recruit depot in San Diego. He is the son of Jonelle L. Short of

Huntington Beach . . . Huntington Beach resident Robert Aponte has been

appointed sales manager of the new Claremore neighborhood of

single-family, detached homes in the Summer Lane community in Huntington

Beach . . . Frank J. Ford has been appointed senior vice president of

Pacific Liberty Bank in Huntington Beach. Ford has been with the company

since it opened in May 1999 . . . Marine Corps Pfc. Joseph J. Ellis

reported for duty with the Marine Air Group 46, Detachment A, at Camp

Pendleton. Ellis is a graduate of Ocean View High School . . . The Cal

State Long Beach chapter of Pi Alpha, a national honor society for public

affairs and administration, inducted John DeWitt and Johnny Jurado of

Huntington Beach . . . Heather A. Curley of Huntington Beach received a

master’s degree in mathematics education from Boston University . . .

Kristin Sullivan of Huntington Beach was named to the dean’s list at

Salisbury State University in Maryland . . . Lynne Prechel and Patricia

McCauley joined the executive staff at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in

Fountain Valley.
