The Vanguard university men’s soccer team will look to rebound from
two early-season losses today at Pomona Pitzer College. Game time is set
for 4 p.m.
Leading the Lions attack is forward Rob Josefsson. The sophomore was
Vanguard University’s Athlete of the Week two weeks ago when he scored
two goals in a 3-2 loss to the Master’s College on Aug. 23.
In other action today:
The Estancia High girls tennis squad will kick off its 2000 season at
3:15 p.m. with a nonleague home contest against Bolsa Grande.
In girls golf action, Newport Harbor begins its 2000 season against
Trabuco Hills at 2:30 at Big Canyon Country Club.
With senior Lindsay Galbraith and junior Shelly Roberts returning from
last year’s Sea View League championship squad, the Sailors have a solid
mix of experience and talent.
Estancia girls quartet of Anh Do, Trang Do, April Duch and Somer
Flaherty will play at Costa Mesa Country Club’s par-72 Mesa Linda Course
against Edison at 2:30 p.m.
Indoors, first-year Coach Tracey Heims will lead the Estancia girls
volleyball team against Santa Ana today at 4 p.m. in the Eagles’ gym.
