Huntington Beach squad wins again

The Huntington Beach girls 14-and-under All-Star softball team

tuned up for this weekend’s American Softball Association Softball

Championships by winning the Torrance Summer Classic.

Team work paved the way to a title run for Huntington Beach, which

defeated five opponents en route to the crown.

In the semifinal round, Huntington Beach defeated North Torrance, 5-1.

That win put the team into the tournament final, where they routed La

Habra, 10-0.

It was the second tournament championship in as many weeks for the

All-Star team, which also won the recent Central District Tournament

title.

The ASA State Championships will be held Friday through Sunday in

Escondido for the Huntington Beach 14-and-under All-Star team, which is

comprised of Jessica Baxton, Jessica Lupton, Holly Jackson, Katie

Richards, Nicole LaPier, Tiffany Chappell, Stacey Yudin, Laurie Denning,

Ellen Garibaldi, Deanna Mauer, Courtney McLaughlan, Amanda Marchegiano,

and Molly Conley.
