Swimming: Newport Hills rolls past Greenbrook

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Hills swim team used a solid team
effort to defeat Glenbrook, 757-550, in South Coast Swim Conference
action Saturday.
On the boys side, Parker Del Ponte was a double-winner in the
11-12-year-old division, winning both the 50-yard freestyle at 1:06.00
and the 100 individual medley with a 1:13.57.
In the 9-10 division, Patrick White and David Linden both were dual
winners. White won the 50 free (30.70) and 50 back (35.32), while Linden
was victorious in the 25 butterfly (17.98) and 100 individual medley
(1:35.48).
The youngest boys double-winner, John Swigert, was tops in the 25 free
(20.35) and 25 fly (26.35).
Other individual winners for Newport Hills included Taylor Epp and
Anthony Daboub (6-and-under), Austin Jones, Patrick O’Donnell and Justin
Papa (7-8), Anthony Marralle (9-10), Tyler Lance (13-14) and Grant Casserly (15-18).
On the girls side, Kasey Kipp was first in both the 50 backstroke (40.91)
and 100 IM (1:26.61) in the 9-10 division.
In the 7-8 division, Sarah Furgatch was a double-winner in the 7-8
division, placing first in the 25 breaststroke (22.46) and 50 free
(39.22).
Six-year-old Hollace Burden won both the 6-and-under 25 free (23.04) and
25 fly (26.67).
Other Newport Hills winners included Maddie O’Connor and Cassidy Papa
(6-and-under), Katherine Kaczmarek and Michelle Tolfa (7-8), Jill
Casserly, Alexine Rodenhuis and Athena Meshkin (11-12), Florentine
Rodenhuis (13-14) and Julie Mendelson (15-18).
