The Fountain Valley Mets took their first step toward a possible

District 62 Tournament of Champions title Monday night, beating the

Seaview Dodgers, 18-8, in Minor B Division action at Robinwood Little

League.

Despite spotting Seaview a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning,

Fountain Valley stormed back with seven runs of its own its first at-bat

to take the lead for good.

Garrett Davis then hit a two-run home run during a three-run outburst as

the Mets, who won the Minor B title at Fountain Valley, extended their

lead to 12-4.

Davis, who finished the game with a 3-for-3 performance that also

included an RBI double, was just one of many stars for the Mets.

“I want to congratulate all of these kids for playing a great game,” Mets

Coach Silvia Ball said. “We came out to play. This is a close team, and

all of them are buds.”

The Mets also received an outstanding game from Nathan Hurdle, who was 3

for 3 with three RBIs. Hurdle also made a great catch in deep left field

during the third inning.

“Nathan was outstanding,” Ball said. “He really came up big for for us

today.”

Other Mets turning in strong offensive games were Dillon Auxier, who went

3 for 3 with a double, three RBIs, and three runs scored, as well as

David Elliot, who also went 3 for 3 with three RBIs.

Chris Hale and Kyle Ball shared pitching duties and Ball (five putouts)

and AJ Cardenalli (three putouts) had big games on defense.

For the Dodgers, the No. 2 team out of Seaview, Rebecca Lesinski went 2

for 2 with a double and two runs, Kurt Heyer went 2 for 2 with an RBI,

Joshua Lesinski had an RBI single, and Kyle Ball doubled.

Both Fountain Valley and Seaview featured players named Kyle Ball, and

each played first base for their respective teams.

Fountain Valley advanced to meet the winner of Tuesday’s first-round game

between Robinwood No. 1 and Westminster No. 2 Saturday, 9 a.m., at the

Robinwood Little League fields.
