Bergey out of All-Star Game

Former Corona del Mar High quarterback Mike Bergey, who completed
his prep football career at Dana Hills High last fall, will miss the
Orange County All-Star Football Game after undergoing recent finger
surgery.
Bergey, who will walk on at Ohio State, had been selected to represent
the South in the annual summer showcase, scheduled July 14 at Orange
Coast College. But he injured the little finger of his right (passing)
hand playing basketball and will require 12 weeks to recover from
surgery.
The South roster still includes former Costa Mesa standouts Shaun
Ferryman and Jimmy Herzog, Estancia’s Kyle Westman and CdM’s Jay Bottom,
as well as the late Andre Stewart from Newport Harbor.
