Here’s what’s being served at elementary schools in the Newport--Mesa
Unified School District:
There are three daily menu choices. Students may choose a vegetarian
entree if desired. The selection varies and may be either a salad,
sandwich or hot entree.The Munchable Lunch Salad contains tossed greens,
cherry tomatoes, crackers and protein sources such as cheese, sunflower
seeds, fruit yogurt, honey-roasted peanuts and dressing.
TODAY
Munchable Lunch Salad with Dannon fruit yogurt or chicken patty on a bun,
shredded lettuce and pickles, choice of fruit and milk
WEDNESDAY
Munchable Lunch Salad or turkey tostada in an “edi-bowl” with shredded
lettuce, cheese and salsa, choice of fruit and milk
THURSDAY
Munchable Lunch Salad or bean-and-cheese burrito, baby carrots with
low-fat dip, choice of fruit and milk
FRIDAY
Munchable Lunch Salad or French bread cheese pizza, crisp green salad
with low-fat dressing, choice of fruit and milk
MONDAY
Munchable Lunch Salad or beef-and-cheese taco snacks with lettuce, cheese
and salsa, frozen 100% fruit juice bar and choice of milk
Elementary lunches are $1.75 each. Checks are not accepted for less than
$17.50.
No child in the school lunch program should be discriminated against
because of race, sex, color, national origin, age or handicap. If
discrimination is suspected, write to the Secretary of Agriculture,
Washington, D.C. 20250.
