Track & Field meet set for Friday

The City of Huntington Beach will hold its annual Youth Track &

Field Meet Friday at Huntington Beach High.

The meet’s first event is scheduled for a 4:45 p.m. start.

Children born in or after 1985 are eligible to compete. Several different

running and field events will be offered, and athletes may participate in

two events, plus one relay.

Running events include the 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 4 X 100

relays, with all events being run in meters.

Field events include long jump, high jump, softball throw, and shotput.

Certain events are restricted according to age.

Registration fee is $5 per athlete, with registration starting at 3:45

p.m. Admission is $1 for all spectators.

AYSO Region 5 (Westminster/Fountain Valley) will hold its first

registration period for its upcoming season Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

at the Fountain Valley Community Center. The league is open to youngsters

ages 4 1/2-18, and cost per player runs $55-$65 dollars. New players must

are required to bring a birth certificate.
