COSTA MESA

* Avocado Street: A 24-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of

possessing marijuana or hashish for sale in the 200 block early Sunday

morning.

* College Avenue: Officers responded to a report of a person suspected of

being drunk in public in the 2100 block Sunday afternoon.

* Harbor Boulevard: A petty theft was reported in the 2300 block Sunday

afternoon.

NEWPORT BEACH

* 40th Street: A laptop computer worth $2,000 was reported stolen from a

residence Saturday afternoon.

* Irvine Avenue: The glass on a vending machine was broken and $45 worth

of candy was stolen in the 800 block Thursday afternoon.

* Morning Canyon: A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in

the 400 block Thursday evening.

* San Miguel: A rag was placed on the receiver of a pay phone and set

afire in the 2600 block Saturday afternoon.

* Villagio: The locks were broken off seven metal mailboxes in the 100

block Saturday afternoon. Nothing was reported stolen.
