Softball: Newport drops two

GARDEN GROVE - Newport Harbor High’s softball team lost two games

to conclude the Garden Grove Tournament Saturday.

In the first game, Sonora blanked the Sailors, 5-0. Newport only got

three hits, a double from Kristen Smith and two singles from Athena

Vasquez and Amanda Campbell.

Lauren Gallardo’s solo home run in the fifth inning was the Sailors’ main

highlight in a 3-1 loss to Tustin. IT’s Gallardo’s second one of the

year. Smith, Campbell, Lindsay Moore and Kim Moore each got singles for

Newport (5-3).
