Girls swimming: Mesa knocks off Huntington Beach

COSTA MESA - Costa Mesa High’s girls swim team used three

double-winners to hold off Huntington Beach, 93-76, Thursday in nonleague

action.

Junior Jody Martinovich won the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.25) and the 500

freestyle (5:41.25), while her sister, Wendy Martinovich took the 200

individual medley (2:25.32) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.31).

On the sprint side, junior Erin Bayes captured the 50 free (26.20) and

the 100 free (57.93).

The Mustangs (2-0) will compete in the Belmont Invitational on Tuesday

before opening up Pacific Coast League action Wednesday.
