NBLL-AA: Diamondbacks double up Angels

NEWPORT BEACH - Three runs in the fifth and sixth innings led the
Diamondbacks to a 6-3 comeback win over the Angels last weekend in
Newport Beach Little League AA Division action.
Bryan Yasukachi and Hunter Alder combined for nine strikeouts, while
holding the Angels to only five hits.
Matt Morris, Kendall Rick and Mickey Miela each had key hits to spark the
D-Backs’ rally, while Miela added a solid defensive grab in right field
to preserve the win.
For the Angels, Matt Steinberg, Cory Vitolo and James Cunningham shut out
the Diamondbacks for the first three innings with Vitolo striking out the
side in the second inning.
Matt Wheatley had two hits for the Angels, while Eric Mutzke led the
defense at first base.
In other NBLL-AA action:
Giants 11, Dodgers 4 - The Giants opened the 2000 campaign with an 11-4
win over the Dodgers last weekend.
Ten different Giants reached base and eight different Giants scored.
Phillip Bannan led the offense with a double and three runs scored.
On the mound, Tom Morey and Michael Kordich combined for 10 strikeouts,
holding the Dodgers to only four hits.
Shaun Mohler struck out seven in three innings of work for the Dodgers.
