AYSO Region 97: Ameba season comes to an end

IRVINE - The Newport Beach Ameba of AYSO Region 97 finished third

in the boys under 14 Section 11 championships Saturday morning at UCI.

Following three straight losses with 18 wins in a row, the Ameba finally

fell, 3-0, to San Juan Capistrano in the semifinals.

The offense was led by Brenden Zimmer, Sergio Luna, Eddie Zepeda, Eduardo

Garcia, Mike Richardson and Jose Ceja, with midfield support by Ramez

Wissa, Devon Andrade, Mike Bury and Erik Zepeda.

The Ameba used a trapping-style of defense, led by Arthur Perez, Taylor

Conant, Brandon Sowers, Max Petty and goal keeper Kaiona Dutro.

The annual Ameba Soccer Academy Awards Banquet is planed for the first

week in April, with approximately 1,500 Ameba alumni scheduled to attend.
