H.B. Storm wins Area crown, moves on to Section

H.B. Storm, a Gold Under-12 boys All-Star soccer team from Region
56, overpowered the competition to win the Area 11-K tournament
championship.
H.B. Storm completed a 9-0-1 tournament run by beating Region 117
(Fountain Valley), 3-0, and Region 517 (Santa Ana), 7-1, during the final
two days of play last weekend.
Curtis Tanaguchi, Mike Buonanotte, and Andrew Nehrig scored, and the
Storm defense allowed just two chances to score against goalie Tyler
Pistoia in the 3-0 win over Fountain Valley. Nehrig, Jeremy Brock, Latu
Fangupo, Vince Devany, and Justin DeMarco all scored in the 7-0 victory
over Santa Ana.
Other key contributions in the Storm’s run to the tournament title came
from forwards Tyler Chapman, Daniel Jimenez, defenders Dylan Nicholson,
Jason Hayes, Kyle Ciandella, and Conner Sullivan.
H.B. Storm, which will participate in the Section tournament March 11-12
at UC Irvine, outscored its 10 opponents by a 55-6 margin, with the
defense posting seven shutouts.
