Storm Watch

The H.B. Storm, a Region 56 (South Huntington Beach) boys Under-12

Gold All-Star team, ran its Area 11-K tournament record to 3-0-1 last

weekend by posting a win and a tie.

Mike Buonanotte scored two goals and Daniel Jimenez, Andrew Nehrig, and

Tyler Chapman all scored once in a 5-1 win over Region 55. The tie came

in a 4-4 deadlock with Region 117, with Buonanotte’s second goal of the

match, which was put in the next in the closing seconds, giving the Storm

the tie. Nehrig and Jeremy Brock also scored in the match.

In four Area 11-K tournament games, H.B. Storm has outscored the

opposition, 24-5.

HB Blue wins, ties

Region 56’s HB Blue, a boys Under-10 All-Star team, picked up a win and a

tie in tournament play, playing Region 143 to a scoreless standstill,

before rallying past the Fountain Valley Wave, 3-1. Second half goals by

Jeff Schones, James Shaft, and Alex Payette brought HB Blue back from a

1-0 deficit against Fountain Valley, and Danger Zone goes 1-0-1

Under-10 Gold All-Star squad, beat Region 56 (South Huntington Beach),

1-0, then tied Region 517 (Santa Ana), 1-1, in weekend action. Allison Bo

Ekern’s penalty kick in the final two minutes, and the shutout

performance of goalies Aylin Dermenci and Kaylee Schneekluth, paved the

way in the 1-0 victory, and Marysol Rosas scored for the Danger Zone in

their 1-1 tie with Santa Ana.
