FOUNTAIN VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT WRAP-UP

ISSUE: SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The school board approved state-funded summer school programs

last Thursday at Fulton Middle, Plavan Elementary, Talbert Middle and

Tamura Elementary schools.

The state funds are available for students who need remediation to meet

the district’s standards in a variety of curriculum areas.

This year, summer school will begin June 26. Activities will include

special education courses and programs for English language learners.

Summer school enrollment forms will be available in each school office by

May 1. Enrollment is limited, and students will be enrolled on a first

come, first served basis.

ISSUE: AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Vote: 5-0

Summary: Trustees approved an application to the city of Fountain Valley

for a Public Service Agency Grant in the amount of $7,000 for an

after-school activities program.

The district has run the program for the last five years.

The program will feature a variety of activities for students in sixth

through eighth grade.
