COSTA MESA - Despite going without starting center Kelly Boeke,
Vanguard University’s women’s basketball team put Point Loma Nazarene
away with ease Tuesday night, taking a 69-51 Golden State Athletic
Conference victory at “The Pit,” on the Vanguard campus.
Avenging an earlier loss to Point Loma, the Lions led by 12 at halftime
and slowly expanded it to remain in a first-place tie for the GSAC lead.
Laura Lee and Becki Huddle each scored 20 points for Vanguard, and Rachel
Fikse had seven boards as the Lions improved to 21-5 overall, 10-3 in the
GSAC. Point Loma fell to 11-15, 7-6.
