Stenglein signs with Southern Miss

Steffany Stenglein, a pitcher/first baseman for the Marina High
girls softball team, recently signed a national letter of intent with
Southern Mississippi University.
During the 1999 season, Stenglein led the Vikings in hits, doubles,
triples, home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage.
Oregon State, Wisconsin, and Loyola Marymount were a few of the other
schools interested in landing the All-Sunset League performer.
“We are pleased to have Steffany commit to our school. We feel she is
going to help our club in a big way,” Southern Miss Coach Lu Harris said.
“She has the ability and the determination to be one of the premiere
pitchers in the nation. She throws very hard and with our pitching staff
helping her, we are confident that she will continue to grow to her
potential.”
