School, asked for approval to apply for funding of the school’s

$100,308 to support the development of its site.

The state superintendent of public instruction is redistributing

unused adult education funds from the 1997 budget. California school

districts may apply for a portion of the $11.7 million authorized for

adult education.

Funds are allocated on a onetime basis.

ISSUE: COMPUTER PURCHASE

VOTE: 5-0

SUMMARY: The board approved the purchase of computers through Gateway

2000.

The state’s Department of General Services has entered into a contract

with Gateway to provide public entities the ability to purchase

standardized computer equipment.

Approval of the recommendation enabled the district to place orders

for computers and software in excess of the $50,000 bid limit without

incurring the administrative costs and delays normally associated with

preparing and evaluating a formal bid.
