Women’s basketball: OCC makes it 16 straight

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College’s women’s basketball team gave

new meaning to the term “Sweet 16.”

With Friday’s 68-63 Orange Empire Conference win over Cypress, the

Pirates increase their winning streak to 16 in a row, breaking previous

mark of 15 straight, set by the 1992-93 team.

Karyn Fierst and Shauna Steward each had 12 points for the Bucs (18-2,

2-0 in OEC), while Sarah Middlebrooke added 10 points and 14 rebounds.

OCC will travel to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets Wednesday at

7:30 p.m.
