AYSO Region 97: Jaguars win championship

NEWPORT BEACH - Andrew Kaban scored the game-winning goal with two

minutes remaining in the game to give the Jaguars a 2-1 win over the

Tsunami in the AYSO Region 97 Division 5 Championships.

Kaban’s goal came off a pass from Michael Helfrich, who stole the ball

from the Tsunami and started the game-winning drive.

Nicholas Scheffield started the scoring for the Jaguars with the

game’s opening goal.

Midfielders Clay Friend, Taylor Friend and Grady Kough were key in

preventing the Tsunami from scoring further goals.

On defense, Michael Ramming, Bryan Snyder, Nicholas Vlahakis, Michael

McKay and goalie Avery Johnson all played well.

The Jaguars, led by Coach Jennifer Kough, will continue their season

in the regional playoffs.
