Eric Johnson served on the Costa Mesa City Council from 1980 to 1984,
spending the last two years as the city’s vice mayor.
But even when he wasn’t on the job, Johnson’s actions were decidedly
political. He was involved with a number of civic organizations,
including the Harbor Area Boys Club, the Lions Club, the Chamber of
Commerce Sports Committee and Child Guidance Costa Mesa.
Working with Child Guidance, a group dedicated to helping deprived
children, was a point of particular pride for Johnson, who was named
Costa Mesa’s Man of the Year in 1989.
