VIVA LAS VEGAS: The Harbor-Mesa Lions Club third annual casino night,
“Viva Las Vegas” will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Neighborhood
Community Center in Costa Mesa. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will
feature a buffet dinner, live entertainment, prizes and a no-host bar.
Tickets are $25 and include $100 in playing chips and a door prize of a
two-night stay in Las Vegas or Laughlin. Wear your Elvis costume and
receive and extra $100 in playing chips. A prize will be given to the
best Elvis.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lions Sight and Hearing

OLD TESTAMENT ARCHEOLOGY: The Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council
luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 8 will feature Vanguard University/Southern
California College Prof. Nancy Heidelbrecht, PhD, who will discuss Old
Testament archeology. According to Greg Kelley, Council president, this
will be Heidelbrecht’s third presentation to the group. The meeting will
be held at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1441 West Balboa Blvd., Newport
Beach. The public is invited and lunch is $7.50 per person. Call (949)

the Center Club. Newport Harbor Kiwanis Club meets at the University
Athletic Club. Noon: The Exchange Club of Orange Coast meets at the Bahia
Corinthian Yacht Club. 6:00 p.m.: The Newport Balboa Rotary meets at the
Bahia Corinthian to hear Dave Balch on “Get More Done, Have More Fun!”
THURSDAY -- 7:00 a.m.: The Costa Mesa Orange Coast Breakfast Lions Club
meets at Mimi’s Cafe. Noon: Kiwanis Club of Newport Beach-Corona del Mar
meets at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht to hear Bud Mahurin, WWII and Korean
ace, historian and author discuss “Hitler’s Fall Guys -- the Luftwaffe
Aces.” The Costa Mesa Kiwanis Club meets at the Holiday Inn for a program
on Computers in Schools. The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor meets at the
Riverboat to hear from Dennis Foley. The Newport-Irvine Rotary Club meets
at the Irvine Marriott to hear Jonathan Lanser.
