Friday’s stormy weather delayed a holiday tradition in Costa Mesa and contributed to traffic problems but otherwise caused few issues in the Newport Beach-Costa Mesa area, officials said.

Storm clouds dumped more than an inch and a half of rain in Costa Mesa, according to the National Weather Service.

About an inch fell in Corona del Mar and about two inches in Irvine, the weather service reported.

Costa Mesa postponed the grand opening of its Snoopy House because of the rain. The “Peanuts”-themed display at City Hall had been set to open Friday evening but was rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The attraction, in its 48th year, will continue nightly through Dec. 23. It includes train rides, entertainment, fundraising booths and a visit from Santa Claus.

Southern California Edison reported scattered small power outages Friday, and slick roads contributed to an uptick in traffic collisions, according to local fire and police officials.

In Newport Beach, crews took one driver to a local trauma center with serious injuries after a single-car crash. The car swerved off the road and into a tree near Jamboree Road and Camelback Street around 8 a.m., according to the Fire Department.

Area officials reported no major flooding or other damage.
