Bicycling through Huntington Beach was a way to support a medical cause Saturday.
RideAtaxia SoCal invited cyclists of all abilities to tackle 1-, 6- and 12-mile courses along Bolsa Chica State Beach. Participants also could walk the shortest route.
The fundraiser benefited the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, a nonprofit research organization focused on treatments and a cure for the degenerative neuromuscular disorder Friedreich’s ataxia.
The goal of Saturday’s ride was to raise $80,000. RideAtaxia events across the country have raised $8.5 million since 2007, according to organizers.
