Costa Mesa man killed in crash on 55 Freeway

A 59-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed Saturday when his pickup truck careened off the 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa and overturned, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. on the northbound 55 just north of the Baker Street off-ramp,
according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a 1990 Toyota pickup without being buckled in, the CHP said. The vehicle left the roadway and hit the left shoulder embankment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The cause of the crash had not yet been determined.
