Lobsterfest hits Newport Sunday

The second annual Newport Lobsterfest rotary fundraiser will be at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort on Sunday.
The event is organized by the Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary to benefit Orange County and international nonprofits, including the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation.
Last year, more than 500 people attended, raising more than $30,000, according to an event news release.
The turnout resulted in some issues with service and long lines at the buffet, but event organizers have added additional serving stations and volunteers for the 2010 Lobsterfest, said Sunrise Rotary President Reniero Francisco.
The Orange County surf rock band, the Hodaddies, will be returning for the second year as the musical entertainment. Activities such as a children’s sandcastle building contest, silent auction and raffle will also be repeated.
The gates open at 3 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive.
Tickets and dinner orders must be bought by Friday at https://www.lobsterfestatnewportbeach.com.
