Charles of Laguna, a men’s and women’s hairpiece atelier, will celebrate 50 years in business with an anniversary party Sunday.
The celebration, to be held from 2 to 6 p.m., will feature a book signing by Patty Farmer, author of “Playboy Swings: How Hugh Hefner and Playboy Changed the Face of Music.” Ira Raibon, a tenor saxophonist and former member of Earth, Wind & Fire, will entertain, and SunGoddess Ashley will host tarot card and astrology readings. In addition, hair demonstrations will be offered.
Kristine Taylor Philanthropies, an organization providing emotional, physical and financial assistance to people battling life-threatening health problems, will receive 10% of the book sales and proceeds from the event.
Known to locals as Charles Wigs, Charles of Laguna was founded by Charles Thompson in 1965 and sold in 2010 to master hairpiece designer Marsha McHenry Carroll.
Charles of Laguna is at 1816 S. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach.
