LagunaTunes given $2,000 from festival foundation

LagunaTunes Community Chorus has received a $2,000 grant from the Festival of Arts Foundation for its local concerts, a spokesman announced in a news release last week.

LagunaTunes, under the direction of Bob Gunn, presents two local concerts a year. The group has sung with Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School choruses, bringing together generations of Laguna Beach singers to perform classical, jazz and gospel pieces.

LagunaTunes does not hold auditions but welcomes new members at the beginning of each session, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays in the band room at Thurston Middle School, 2100 Park Ave., Laguna Beach. Membership fees are $85.

The community chorus started in 2003 and has over 45 members.
