Readers React: Lack of beat reporting allows Garcetti to avoid accountability

To the editor: The lack of real, day-to-day beat coverage of Mayor Eric Garcetti’s administration allows him to decide what’s important and what’s not. Local coverage of Garcetti is fractured at best. (“Some criticize Garcetti’s low-key approach to police shootings,” June 14)
In a one-newspaper locale with local television focused on anything but local government, not even radio allows for an information venue for residents — and thus you have the real reason nobody votes, because nobody really knows what Garcetti has done. In effect, Garcetti isn’t held accountable to anyone.
