Re “Democrat was the last WWII vet in U.S. Senate,” Obituary, June 4
The late New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg was not only a passionate Democrat, a defender of the Social Security and Medicare programs and a champion of common-sense solutions on gun control and drunk driving, he also made it possible for many Jewish Russians to immigrate to America.
I will always be grateful to Lautenberg for helping me to become an American citizen.
