Rain brings rollovers and spinouts in Laguna Beach

A San Clemente man escaped injury when the BMW he was driving rolled onto its roof along North Coast Highway near El Morro Elementary School at 6:49 a.m. during Tuesday’s rain, Laguna Beach police said.
One northbound lane was closed for 20 minutes as tow crews tended to the BMW 328i, driven by a 20-year-old San Clemente resident, Sgt. Tim Kleiser wrote in an email.
“The vehicle was heading northbound on Coast Highway in heavy rain and struck the east curb, which caused the vehicle to roll onto its roof,” Kleiser said. The BMW was the only car involved and police said alcohol or drugs were not factors.
Elsewhere Tuesday in Laguna, public works crews removed rocks that rolled onto asphalt in the 600 block of North Coast Highway and a car spun out on Broadway Street near the bus depot, Kleiser said.
