Letters: Missed chances to stop Kermit Gosnell

Re “The Kermit Gosnell verdict,” Editorial, May 15
The Times is correct: Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell’s operation was clearly outside the bell curve of normal abortion clinic procedures. Nevertheless, it does make one wonder why the state of Pennsylvania chose to not conduct routine inspections of abortion clinics.
Given that the clinic operated for such a length of time, even a random inspection program would have caught something amiss. Restaurants get closer scrutiny.
