Letters: China as a bully

Re “China’s me-first foreign policy,” Opinion, Jan. 20
Last week, I attended a memorial for Vietnamese citizens killed because they spoke out or fought against a Chinese incursion into Vietnam. While China’s territorial dispute with Japan has garnered much of the world’s attention, other nations in the region are experiencing similar issues.
The advance of democracy in the region is threatened when citizens cannot speak out against such aggression. China’s leadership is definitely in need of a “good neighbor” policy.
My hope is that next year no new names will be added to the memorial.
