An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Redondo Beach last weekend has been connected to other crimes committed against women in the same area, police said.
Gilberto Lopez-Quinonez, of Torrance, allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Saturday morning while she was at the beach, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
In April, Lopez-Quinonez stole from one woman, and sexually assaulted another in June, police said. All the incidents occurred in the same general area as Saturday’s assault in the late night or early morning hours, according to police.
Based on the nature of the crimes, police believe Lopez-Quinonez may have had other female victims.
He faces seven felony counts related to the sexual assault on Saturday.
Lopez-Quinonez remains in custody in lieu of $700,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
Anyone with information or tips regarding Lopez-Quinonez was encouraged to contact police at (310) 379-2477 ext. 2714.
