A main traffic artery to Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu was closed for the bulk of Wednesday morning’s commute after a traffic accident involving a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy on a motorcycle.
The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, sheriff’s officials said.
The deputy was seen up and walking around after the crash, KNBC-TV reported. He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Topanga Canyon Boulevard from Grandview Drive to Pacific Coast Highway was reopened about 11:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Officials told KCBS-TV that the deputy was on his way to the Lost Hills station when the crash occurred.
