Aspiring rapper Lil Za was sentenced to probation and community service Wednesday after he pleaded no contest to one felony count of possessing a controlled substance.
Lil Za, whose real name is Xavier Dominique Smith, was sentenced to three years’ probation, 20 days of community labor and ordered to enter a drug treatment program, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
Smith, 20, was arrested after Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators searched the home of his friend, Justin Bieber, on the morning of Jan. 14 in response to allegations that the singer threw eggs at a neighbor’s home and caused property damage.
While looking for evidence that might have linked the 19-year-old Bieber to the egging, the search turned up ecstasy, which authorities said was “in plain sight” and belonged to Smith.
Smith was taken into custody at the sheriff’s Lost Hills station. While there, authorities said he also damaged a phone in a holding cell. On Wednesday, he also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of damaging the jail.
Smith was also fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $600 in restitution, prosecutors said. The district attorney’s office is still reviewing the accusations against Bieber.
