A worker at Los Angeles International Airport was killed early Friday when, authorities say, he fell out of a luggage vehicle and was hit by a cart.
At about 5 a.m. Friday, the driver of a ground service equipment vehicle either had a medical issue or lost control of the vehicle while on a service road, according to a statement from the airport.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded, found the man unconscious and were unable to revive him, LAX said.
Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter described the man who died as a Latino in his 50s. The man’s identity was not immediately released, pending notification of family.
The investigation into the incident remained ongoing, but LAX officials said no flights were affected.
