Big-rig crash closes eastbound 210 in Pasadena; Gold Line disrupted

Traffic on the eastbound 210 Freeway in Pasadena came to a halt Thursday afternoon when two big rigs collided, sending one through the center divider and overturning on railroad tracks before catching on fire, the California Highway Patrol said.
One of the drivers was seriously injured, while the other escaped with minor injuries, according to Pasadena Fire spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.
CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said all eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway were shut down at Allen Avenue as of 2:15 p.m. The carpool lane of the westbound was also closed.
Additionally, authorities have closed the eastbound 134 Freeway transition road to the eastbound 210.
The accident was reported around 12:56 p.m. on the eastbound 210 Freeway when the two big rigs collided.
At least three engines from the Pasadena Fire Department responded to the scene to put out the flames after the the truck overturned on the Gold Line rail lines.
Metro Gold Line service between the Lake and Sierra Madre Villa stations was suspended for the remainder of the day, according to Metro. All Pasadena-bound trains will end at the Lake station and turn back to Los Angeles.
Bus shuttles, meanwhile, will replace train service between the Lake, Allen and Sierra Madre Villa stations through close of service, Metro said.
