World Cup 2010: CHILE
FIFA ranking: 13
Overall World Cup record: 7-12-6
Coach: Marcelo Bielsa
Best performance: Third place, 1962
Overview: The youngest team among the five South American qualifiers, Chile is returning to the World Cup after a 12-year absence. And Marcelo Bielsa, coach of la roja, will be out to erase the stain of 2002, when his Argentine team was ousted in group play. Chile’s quick, attacking offense is led by former club teammates Matias Fernandez, Alexis Sanchez and Humberto Suazo, all of whom are currently playing in Europe.
