Two of the Southland’s top teams faced off, with the No. 2 team in Division II-AA, Edison (11-1), getting 19 kills from Ashley Collier and 18 from Kari Pestolesi. Mira Costa, ranked No. 1 in Division I-A, was led by Alix Klineman but lost a see-saw battle in the third game and trailed throughout a close fourth game.

Jacqi Reed had 11 kills and freshman setter Hillary Christensen had 41 assists to lead host El Modena (6-1).
El Toro d. Warren, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19
Jackie Albright led El Toro (4-1) with 13 kills. Warren dropped to 2-16.
Esperanza d. La Habra, 25-11, 25-13, 25-16
Ashley Engle had 15 kills, and Kelli Attaway had eight kills for Esperanza (17-1).

Jordan Williams had five kills and Hilary Marston had 14 assists to lead Fairmont Prep (2-4) over Pioneer Baptist (1-5).

Jaimarie Sutherland had 22 kills for Fullerton (5-1). Murrieta Valley was led by Courtney Cedillo, who had 19 kills.

Amie Russ had 10 kills, Callie McIntosh had 14 digs and nine kills and Jamie Long had 20 assists in the loss for visiting Hart (3-6).

Laura Gustin had 17 kills and four aces, Sarah Lewis had 23 assists and four kills and Olivia Howard had four kills to lead host Hesperia Christian (5-6), ranked No. 3 in Div. V-AA.

Felicia Ciarelli had eight kills and Laura Ball had six blocks to lead Huntington Beach (4-2), ranked No. 2 in Div. II-AA by CIF.

Setter Stephanie Brandt had 25 assists and 17 digs, middle blocker Sara Phares had 10 kills and three blocks and outside hitter Carly Rahe had 17 digs and six kills to lead host Irvine University (8-2).
The Trojans also got great support from their defense which had 61 digs in the three-game match.
Laguna Hills, ranked No. 10 in Division IIA, is 9-3.

Emily Hintz had 20 kills for host La Verne Lutheran (6-0).

In the matchup between the visiting Monarchs, ranked No. 1 in the Division II-AA coaches poll and the Griffins, ranked No. 2 in Division I-AA, Mater Dei’s defense led the way.
The Monarchs tallied 80 digs in the match and were led by Mallorie Croal who had 12 kills, four aces and 15 digs, McCall Miller who had 18 digs and junior defensive specialist Lauren Souto who had a career-high 27 digs.
Mater Dei (10-2) starts Serra League play, as four-time defending champion, against Lakewood St. Joseph on Thursday, which is ranked No. 3 in Div. III-AA. It will be the Monarchs first home match.

Ellie Foran had eight kills and 11 digs, Dani Lieberman had six kills and Sam Weiner had five kills to lead host Milken (4-2). Jessie Brown had 27 assists for visiting Crossroads (3-2).

Kirsten Slouber had 11 kills to lead host Montclair Prep (3-4).

Megan Burch had 21 kills for host Riverside Christian (7-0), ranked No. 2 in Division V-AA, which recorded its first win over its crosstown rival since 2002. Alex Wolnisty had 14 kills to lead Woodcrest Christian (3-2).

Amy Hultner and Erin Wilson each had 15 kills and middle blocker Gina Conley had seven kills and six blocks to lead host Rosary (11-2) which is ranked No. 4 in Div. III-A by CIF. Sunny Hills 5-3.

Vista Murphy had 16 kills and 10 digs and Cat Dailey had 17 kills and five blocks for Sage Hill (5-4). Irvine falls to 10-7.

Ali Cole had 12 kills and seven aces, and Sydney Davis had 16 kills and five aces for Southwestern (1-0). Blair dropped to 2-4.

Nickea Steen had eight kills and Michelle Gonzalez added 18 assists to lead host St. Monica (5-1).

Staked to a two-game lead, Western (10-3) went to its bench and a different lineup in the third game, lost momentum and eventually the match. Loara (5-6) was led by Amanda Fama, who had seven kills, while Western got 12 kills in its comeback by Dierdre Fiapai.
