ABC has given a major vote of confidence to two of its freshman series, “How to Get Away with Murder” and “black-ish,” giving full season orders for both shows.
Both series have shown strength right off the bat: “How to Get Away With Murder,” from executive producer Shonda Rhimes, was TV’s top series debut of the season and the top-rated 10 p.m. drama debut in two years. “black-ish” opened as the No. 2 series debut and has had the best-ever viewer retention out of “Modern Family” for any comedy debut.
“How to Get Away With Murder” stars Viola Davis as professor Annalise Keating, a hard-edged university law professor who is also a successful defense attorney.
“black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Trace Ellis Ross as African American parents struggling to give their young children some identity with their cultural roots.
