The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess From San Francisco Opera, one of America’s classic musicals gets a rendering taped at San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House, with bass-baritone Eric Owens and soprano Laquita Mitchell in the title roles. The standards “Summertime” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So” are included in the George Gershwin score, conducted by John DeMain. Kristin Chenoweth hosts. 9 p.m. KOCE
The Knick In the first season finale, an increasingly paranoid Thackery (Clive Owen) becomes obsessed with solving the riddles of blood-transfusion research in order to beat his rival (Michael Nathanson). 10 p.m. Cinemax
