Grammys 2014: Dave Grohl still starstruck by Paul McCartney after win

One Grammy winner feeling some Beatlemania on Sunday? Dave Grohl.
The rocker nabbed one of the telecast’s first wins when he was awarded the Grammy for best rock song for “Cut Me Some Slack,” a collaboration from his “Sound City” soundtrack that features Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.
Backstage, Grohl couldn’t help but revel in the close relationship he’s built with McCartney, who was being celebrated by the Grammys all weekend in the run-up to the 50th anniversary of the Beatles playing “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

“I have two kids ... and they are at that age where they are starting to sing along to music. ... So I got them this Beatles box set [on] vinyl,” Grohl revealed as McCartney looked on and smiled.
“I watched them in their bedroom playing with these records all over the floor, just as I did when I was their age,” he continued. “There aren’t too many things that last forever, and I honestly think with what Paul and the band did has the same effect on this new generation of kids as it did to mine. It’s amazing.”
When asked about his Grammy-winning collaboration with Grohl, McCartney gave credit to an unlikely source: Johnny Depp.
“[Depp] had just given me this little cigar box guitar, which I was wildly excited about, so I took it along,” McCartney said while describing their recording session. “We had three, four hours. It was an excuse for my wife and daughter to go visit family.”
