Golden Globes 2014: Cate Blanchett ‘open and ready’ for ‘Jasmine’

Cate Blanchett took a gander at her recent acquisition — a lead actress Golden Globe for her role in “Blue Jasmine” — while pondering how she’ll celebrate her win.
“I guess I better put my name on this before they take it away from me,” the 44-year-old actress said.
In the film, Blanchett stars as a woman whose excessive lifestyle falls by the wayside after her Wall Street husband is caught in a scam, and she says the role came along at just the right time.

“Sometimes a role just hits you at a time you’re open and ready for it,” she said backstage. After devoting some time to the theater -- she is co-artistic director at the Sydney Theater Company -- Blanchett made her mark in the Woody Allen film. She prepared not so much for the role, she said, but for working with the writer/director himself. She watched “Woody Allen: A Documentary” so she could know “what I was getting in for,” she said.
“Working on a Woody Allen film, tone is everything,” she said. “He’s incredibly generous with what he does and doesn’t say to actors. I tried to garner as many clues as I could and then hit the ground running because he only does one or two takes.”
