TV ratings: ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ soft; ‘Once Upon A Time’ finale steady

NBC had trouble birthing its remake of the horror classic “Rosemary’s Baby” on Mother’s Day, while the season finale of “Once Upon a Time” propelled ABC to a ratings victory.
According to early numbers from Nielsen, the first installment of the two-part “Rosemary’s Baby” miniseries, starring Zoe Saldana, averaged 3.8 million viewers in its two-hour debut. Among key 18-to-49-year-olds, the premiere earned a rating of 1.1, slightly better than what the now-canceled “Believe” and “Crisis” posted in the time slot last Sunday.
Part 2 of “Rosemary’s Baby” is set to air on Thursday at 9 p.m.
ABC won Sunday in the 18-49 demographic with the help of the “Once Upon a Time” Season 3 finale, which scored a 2.2 in the demo, making it the night’s highest-rated show by that measure. The finale’s rating was 5% higher than last week, but down slightly from the Season 2 closer.
The season finale of “Revenge” notched a 1.5, up 15% from last week, though down 12% from last year’s finish. Overall, ABC scored a 1.8 in 18-49, in which a ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers. Though it was first in the advertiser-coveted demo, it was second in overall viewers (5.9 million versus 8.3 million for CBS).
CBS’ “60 Minutes,” “The Amazing Race,” “The Good Wife” and “The Mentalist” were all flat or up a bit from last week.
Mother’s Day TV viewing among young adults was generally lower than the previous week, and that certainly didn’t help Fox, which posted declines from all its animated shows. The science documentary “Cosmos” fell 25% week-to-week, for a 1.2.
Fox and CBS tied for second place in the demo among the major networks, with a 1.3 apiece.
